About
Matt Pertile
licensed Professional Counselor
I am a high energy member of the Angelus team, and I am excited to start working with you and your family. I come with a lot of experience helping teens and adults through periods of crisis in their lives and back to a point of stabilization and success.
I find working with struggling teenagers and young adults exceptionally rewarding. Just being in this age range means ongoing periods of transition and change. Being able to step into those transitions and see my clients grow in their abilities to think , process and respond to life stressors always amazes me.
Treating adolescents does come with using a lot of patience, but that happens to be my super power. After spending several years working in crisis and inpatient settings and then the last 9 as a high school guidance counselor I have learned to weather the ups and downs of a teens moods. Finding that in a weeks span many teenagers go through mood swings that could include periods of; excitement and energy, anxiety and overload, hopelessness and depression, and even anger and aggressiveness. Sometimes going through all of them within the same day! Teens & young adults are in a constant state of growth and change and I am here to help them and you find your way through that to a stable, healthy and more fulfilled adulthood.

Why Work With Me?
I look at approaching life as a “one step a time” process. You cannot fix everything in a day and must start somewhere, but always progressing towards a goal. Therapy is about helping you set the right goal for you and figuring out the best path there. Finding that light at the end of the tunnel and doing whatever it takes to get there, one simple step at a time.
One of the first thing we will do in treatment is to work to make sure that we are the ‘right fit’ for what you or your teen needs at this time and stage. I feel that the biggest component of success in therapy is trust. There must be trust developed between the client and therapist. Without that, any type of progress is going to be difficult. So step one in counseling will involve not just setting those goals but developing enough of a connection and trust to help you feel like we can reach them together.
